It is done, at least for the time being.
I’m really quite pleased with the eventual maquette for Other Mothers. I first tried a portrait A4 size for the project and it did not quite work. Instead I have gone for a cropped landscape which becomes more of a square shape in use because of the heavy “M” stitching on the binding (for Mum, in case you wonder).
The prints really leap to their own from the opaque text view that precedes them, which is exactly what I’d hoped for. And the text itself is perfectly legible on the vellum paper while still hinting at what follows.
And with its production comes an ending of sorts.
I am very keen to stay with the Other Mothers project, though I want to spend time with these women in person and make a performative memory piece as outlined in my critical review.
